Haiti-France-USA: "Toussaint Louverture" Awarded in Los Angeles Tuesday, 21 February 2012 18:56

LOS ANGELES, USA (defend.ht)- On February 21, the TV film “Toussaint Louverture” was awarded in Los Angeles during the 20th Pan African Film Festival. The French-Haitian movie has received three awards: Best Film, Audience Choice Award and Best Actor for Jimmy Jean-Louis.
The French-Haitian TV film "Toussaint Louverture" had attracted an average of 3 million viewers on last February 14 and 15 in primetime on French TV channel, France 2. It tells the story of Toussaint Louverture, the historical figure who in 1804 led the slaves to revolt against France to create the first independent black republic, Haiti.
Directed by Philippe Niang from a screenplay by Philippe Niang and Sandro Agenor, in collaboration with Alain Foix, the film stars Jimmy Jean-Louis (Toussaint), Gessica Geneus (Vertueuse), Aissa Maiga (Suzanne), Arthur Jugnot (Pasquier ), Pierre Cassignard (General Laveaux), Eric Viellard (Sonthonax), Magloire Delcros-Varaud (March Pleasure), Philippe Caroit (Bayon de Libertad), Feodor Atkine (General Caffarelli), Sylaire Ruddy (Biassou), Hubert Koundé (Dessalines) Thierry Desroses (Christopher), Yann Ebongé (Moses), Valerie Mairesse (Mother Coulinge) and Sonia Rolland (Mrs. Sonthonax). With the participation of Thomas Langmann (Bonaparte) and Stany Coppet (General Rigaud).
